Air Jordan 1 Retro High CO Japan Neutral Grey (2020)
Although a recent release, the 2020 Jordan 1 High “Tokyo” brings new light to a storied and iconic piece of the brand’s history.
The sneaker’s predecessor, which originally dropped on January 1, 2001, was limited to a mere 2,001 pairs and only released in Japan. In addition to being one of the first non-original colourways of the silhouette, it was also the first country-exclusive Jordan 1 to release.
When it was released for a second time in early August, the Tokyo saw a global launch -- although a special suitcase-like packaging, numbered from one through 2,020, came with pairs that dropped in Japan.
The sneaker features plenty of nods to its predecessors such as identical shades of neutral grey suede and metallic silver and CO.JP branding on the insole. Other distinguishing features can be found on the leather tongue, which includes Nike Air embroidered on the front and a tag on the inside that honours its original release. The shoe also uses round laces as opposed to the flat ones seen on modern Jordan 1 silhouettes.
