New at NFS x Heat Vault (Nike x Stussy Spridon)
As one of the largest names in the world of skateboarding and hip-hop fashion, Stüssy has been no stranger to success. And between successful revivals of the Kukini and the Zoom Spiridon Cage 2, as well as their take on the Air Force 1, the brand’s collaborations with Nike in 2020 have been well received by sneakerheads everywhere.
But this isn’t the first time the two brands have seen success together -- in fact, Stüssy was the first streetwear brand to collaborate with Nike nearly two decades ago. The initial collaboration, according to Nike, consisted of two exclusive Huaraches that were released in 2000.
"The goal of the collection is to create timeless American sportswear and add to the 20-year legacy of collaboration carried by Nike and Stüssy,” says Fraser Avey, Brand Director at Stüssy in a release. “This is a meshing of worlds and people, a global tribe centered around doing your thing and creative thought."
Much of the collection released this year, including the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2, is inspired by coastal California and creating beach-ready apparel. The Spiridion Cage 2, specifically, was first released in 2003 and features a caged Zoom Air unit and a full-length foam midsole. Releasing in a variety of colours including fossil, silver, and platinum, the silhouette is a welcome revival for 2020.
