New at NFS x Heat Vault (Nike Air Force 1 “Paranoise 2.0”)

Kwon Ji-yong, better known as G-Dragon, has been both a hip hop star and a style icon long before the release of his first Nike sneaker in 2019. But when the first iteration of the Paranoise released last November, it only furthered his progression as both an icon and a global phenomenon. Not to mention, word of G-Dragon’s first collaboration with Nike came shortly after he completed military service -- making the timely release even more of an impressive feat.

According to Nike, the Air Force 1 is the Seoul-born artist's favourite silhouette. The first version of the Paranoise came equipped with thick laces, custom pins for the upper eyelets, a daisy embroidered on the tongue, and the most unique aspect of the shoe, G-Dragon’s personal artwork hidden underneath a black painted overlay.

“The artwork conveys a sense of optimism, inspired by the singer-songwriter's vision of a world where the youth are unified through creativity and a free exchange of ideas,” says Nike. “For G-Dragon, art is an important expression of self that pushes culture forward.”

And with the second iteration of the Paranoise scheduled to release this week, there’s no doubt that the sneaker will make just as big a splash.

“For those who loved hip-hop culture, oversized clothes, hats and matching-colored Air Force 1s was the uniform,” G-Dragon says.

This version of the sneaker, which has been dubbed by some as the Paranoise 2.0, features a reversed colourway and a white upper that can either be removed or worn away to give a unique, customized look.
